Hello! I’m Claire — an experienced, qualified, and passionate childminder based in Rustington, Littlehampton. I’m an Ofsted-registered provider and a proud member of PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).
Caring for young children has been at the heart of my career for almost 30 years. It’s something I’ve always loved and feel incredibly proud to continue doing every day.
👶 My Journey in Childcare
My childcare journey began in 1996, when I started working in a day nursery as a Trainee Nursery Nurse, caring for children aged 18 months to 3 years. During this time, I completed my:
- NVQ Level 2 & Level 3 in Childcare and Education
- Key Skills Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship
- Time in both the baby room and pre-school room as part of my training
As I progressed, I became a Nursery Nurse, working closely with the Room Leader to care for toddlers — a role I truly enjoyed.
In 1999, I moved to a new nursery where I became a Room Leader, initially caring for children aged 10 months to 2 years, and later running the 2 to 3 year olds room. I also took on management responsibilities, stepping in for both the Deputy and Manager when needed.
🏡 Nanny Experience
From 2001 to 2006, I worked as a Daily Nanny, providing care in the children’s own homes while their parents were at work. I supported three wonderful families, caring for children aged from 5 months to 7 years — a role that gave me deep insight into home-based care and strong parent partnerships.
💛 Family Life & Childminding Today
I left my third nanny role when I was eight months pregnant with my daughter, who is now 18, and I also have a 14-year-old son. Becoming a mum deepened my understanding of the needs of both children and parents — and inspired me to start my own childminding service.
Since then, I’ve been running Claire’s Childcare, providing a safe, nurturing, and fun home-from-home for local families in Rustington. It’s a joy to support children as they grow, explore, and develop in a caring environment.
